Nereo Origin and Meaning
The name Nereo is a boy's name meaning "water".
The name of the father of the sea nymphs is derived from the Greek neros meaning "water" and was borne by a 1st century Roman saint. A sea-inspired choice, Nereo is an alternative form, used occasionally among Italian and Spanish speakers.
A rare choice, Nereo has only appeared in the US charts a handful of times. Notable bearers however include footballers Nereo Champagne and Nereo Rocco, and journalist Nereo C. Andolong "Nering".
