Teyrnon Origin and Meaning

The name Teyrnon is a boy's name .

A name from medieval legend and possibly much further back. Teyrnon Twryf Lliant ("turbulent water") is a figure who appears in the First Branch of the Mabinogi, and several other texts. He fosters the king's son Pryderi, notably saving him from a mysterious giant claw.

It is widely held to derive from *Tigernonos, meaning "great lord" — whether this was the name of a deity or not is open for debate. The same "lord" root is also in the Irish name Tierney, and the legendary king Vortigern.
