Moneta Origin and Meaning

The name Moneta is a girl's name meaning "to remind, instruct; alone, unique".

Moneta was the name of two separate goddesses in Roman mythology. The first was the goddess of memory, equivalent to the Greek Mnemosyne, and the second was as an epithet of Juno, mother of the gods. The names of each goddess were derived from different sources.

The version of Moneta that was used for Juno was derived from the Greek moneres, meaning "alone" or "unique." Juno was the goddess of funds, and thus moneta became associated with money and coinage.
