Anianus Origin and Meaning
The name Anianus is a boy's name meaning "Yahweh is gracious".
While those final two syllables may make this ancient name unusable in contemporary English-speaking contexts, it was borne by an early pope, along with several bishops, deacons, and writers. While the exact meaning is uncertain, it seems plausible that the name could come from the same root as Hananiah (or Hananias) meaning "Yahweh is gracious".
The Spanish form Aniano, and its feminine counterpart, Aniana, may feel more usable today, as might Ananias or simple Hananiah.
