Dogmael Origin and Meaning
The name Dogmael is a boy's name .
Like so many early British saints, little is known of Saint Dogmael except a trail of churches dedicated to him, mainly across south-west Wales, and several village named after him, including St Dogmaels and St Dogwells. It is also recorded as Dogfael, Docmael, and Docwel.
The element mael is common in early Welsh names, and means "prince, chief". The meaning of the first part of his name is unknown, but it may derive from a diminutive ending in this, such as Madog or Caradog.
Unfortunately, this name just sounds too comically canine to use for a child.
