Palm

Word name, Latin
"of the palm; pilgrim"

Palm Origin and Meaning

The name Palm is a boy's name meaning "of the palm; pilgrim".

Ultimately derived from the Latin palma meaning "palm tree" and "palm of the hand", it has appeared historically in the names Palmarius and Palmatius and more recently, in Palmer. Associated with Pilgrims who would bring a palm branch back from their journey to the holy land, it could fit in with the likes of True, Creed, and Shepherd.

While it might appeal as a modern spiritual option, Palm is also associated with a deflection tactic in football and concealing something as part of a trick or perhaps a theft. There's also the common phrase "palm off", used to mean getting rid of something (or someone) through misleading information and deception. It's for these reasons perhaps that the similar Palmer is chosen instead.
