Adrastea Origin and Meaning

The name Adrastea is a girl's name meaning "inescapable".

In Greek mythology, Adrastea (or Adrasteia) was a nymph who helped raise the infant Zeus. It was also sometimes used as an alternate name for several other goddesses, and is the name of one of the moons of Jupiter.

While many Ancient Greek names have already become quite popular -- Penelope was Number 27 in the U.S. in 2016 -- Adrastea remains almost completely undiscovered. It would be an intriguing alternative to Adrian, Adriana and even the whole Adeline/Adelaide family.
