Velouria Origin and Meaning
The name Velouria is a girl's name meaning "velour".
Velouria sounds like it could be related to the likes of Saturnina, Honoria, Lavinia, and Valentina, however, it is likely more of a modern creation, based on the name of the velvet-like material.
Possibly inspired by the Greek name Veloudia meaning "velvet", it has appeared in the title of a '90s hit by American band, Pixies, and as a character in the Fire Emblem series. In the case of the latter, her Japanese name is Boroa, which does translate to velour, while in terms of the song, the name was also created with the material in mind.
The name has been given to at least 33 baby girls in the US since the 2000s.
