Nameberry's Top Names of 2024

Nameberry's Top Names of 2024

Do you love names like Theodore and Oliver, Charlotte and Eloise? If so, you're in good company — they're among the names most loved by our readers in 2024.

In previous years, we've tallied up the names with the most views on Nameberry. This is a great way to see which names our readers are curious about, but it doesn't tell us which ones you really love.

So this year, for the first time, we ranked the most-hearted names: those which the most people have added to their Favorites list.

What's that, I hear you ask? If you have a Nameberry account (which we totally recommend), you can keep a personalized list of your favorite names. To add a name, just click the heart next to it in a list, or on a page — as shown above for Theodore.

So which names have captured the most hearts?

The most popular names on Nameberry are Charlotte — favorited by 1059 people — and Theodore, which is on 1033 readers' favorite list. Both are in the Top 10 most popular baby names in the US, and are classics that have risen to the top relatively recently — perfectly reflecting Berries' taste for elegant names ahead of the curve.

Beyond that, the Top 100 hearted names are a glorious mixture of fresh, stylish names that are popular nationwide, and Berry favorites that are less known outside the name nerd community (for now).

Popular Names Loved by Nameberry Users

Many of the most-hearted names are among the most popular in real life. In our Top 10 names, Charlotte, Amelia, Theodore, Oliver, Henry and James are also in the Top 10 baby names in the USA.

Other names that are popular both on Nameberry and in the wider world include evergreen classics like William and Lucy; the newest wave of biblical names like Silas, Ezra, and Delilah; "traveling lite names" such as Luna, Nora, Kai and Leo, and fresh nature names like Willow, Ivy and Rowan.

These are great names to use for a baby if you want a true crowd-pleaser: widely known and loved, slightly ahead of the trends, and not outdated.

Popular names that you won't find on so many readers' hearted lists are those that have been trending for longer and are starting to fade, such as 1990s and 00s favorites Emily, Madison, Daniel, and Jackson. There are also fewer Spanish names in the Nameberry Top 100 list — no Camila, Sofia, or Santiago.

Rare Names That Nameberry Users Love

As you'd expect from baby name afficionadoes, there are plenty of gems in the list that are not widely used in practice.

For girls, Daphne is Number 9 on our charts, but nationally Number 241. Elodie is Number 15 on the Nameberry chart, but lurks down in 737th place in the US. Other girl names more popular on Nameberry than in reality include long, fanciful names like Aurelia, Clementine, and Evangeline, vintage sweethearts like Mabel and Jane, and new-generation botanicals like Sage and Juniper.

On the boys' side, August ranks at Number 4 on Nameberry, but 104 nationally. Soren is Number 21 for our readers, but 544 in the USA. Other less common names that are popular with Berries include ones ending in -O, such as Milo and Arlo, and names from the ancient world, like Evander, Cyrus, and Cassian.

Only one name, Wren, is in our Top 100 for both boys and girls.

Names in our Top 100 this year, but not even in the US Top 1000, are Arden, Beatrix, Cordelia, Elowen, and Imogen; Casper, Florian, and Kit.

Any of these are fantastic options if you're looking for a baby name with real history and style, but which is unlikely to be shared with many people.
