Most Popular Baby Names 2024 So Far: Mid-Year Edition

The top baby names of the year so far are here!

Want to know what name-conscious parents-to-be are considering right now? Look no further than the most popular names on Nameberry from January to June 2024.

Sure, they don't exactly match the nation's official most popular baby names list — the top US girl name, Olivia, is down at #79 here, while it will be a long time before Royal and Luxury make the Top 100 in real life, let alone the Top 3 as they are here.

But overall, this list is a good indicator of which names are on the rise. The names that are on people's minds, the ones that intrigue them enough to look up online: these are the ones we're likely to hear more of in future years.

For example, Maeve and Silas, some of our most-viewed names this year, are recent entrants to the US Top 100 — Maeve in 2023, and Silas in 2020. But we saw them coming over a decade ago: both have featured in the Nameberry Top 100, and usually much higher, since our records began in 2012.

Taken from over 10 million views, here are the most viewed names on Nameberry in the first half of 2024. Read on for the highlights and the full Top 100.

Top 10 Names of 2024 So Far

Since this time last year, half of our Top 10 girl names have changed: Elodie has jumped up 23 spaces to #3, while Iris, Daphne, Clara and Charlotte are also new entries. Maeve reclaims the top spot, after losing it last year it to Luxury (which has now vanished off the girls' charts).

The most popular girl names show our readers' ongoing love for flowing vintage and mythical names of mainly French and Classical origin.

Luxury may have left the girls' charts, but it has shot out of nowhere straight into our Top 10 most visited boy names! This is one of those names that many readers tap on through curiosity rather than a real intention to use it: it was given to under 5 boys in the US last year. Both Luxury and Royal are especially popular with our international readers.

Of the other boy names in the Top 10, August and Finn are new entries since this time last year.
