Popular British names for 2023 are led by Olivia and Muhammad. Olivia retains her title for the eighth year running, while Muhammad takes the Number 1 spot for the first time ever.

Muhammad, a highly significant name in Islam, has been in the Top 10 boy names since 2016, and has finally overtaken the previous Number 1, Noah, in popularity. Two other spellings of this name also appear in the Top 100.

Along with Olivia, the top British girl names last year include Amelia, Isla, Ava, and Lily.

Along with Noah, the top British boys names include Noah, Oliver, George, and Leo.

The UK's most popular baby names include the names of young Princes George and Archie in the Top 20, and Princess Charlotte at Number 23 for girls.

Royal dad names Harry and William are at Number 21 and 29 respectively, but both have fallen significantly in the last decade.

Unique baby names that rank among the UK's top 100 baby names include Lottie, Darcie, Orla, and Ayla for girls; Reggie, Albie, Harrison, and Sonny for boys. English names particularly popular in the UK include classics like Lily and Jack.
