Aira is a light and airy name that is currently on the rise. Playful but concise, Aira made its debut in the England and Wales Top 1000 in 2022. 
Short and simple as it may look, Aira has a number of different origins. It could be seen as an elaboration of the word name Air — similar to Kylie Jenner's son, Aire. Alternatively, it could be a variation of Ayra, meaning "worthy" and "noble" in Sanskrit. It can also be a Finnish name meaning "messenger", or a variation of the Armenian name Ara, meaning king.
 We suspect a number of the 128 US-based parents who named their baby girls Aira in 2022 had the former, pop culture inspiration in mind - likely enjoying it as an alternative to the likes of Skyla or River. Others might have been inspired by dancer Aira Casim or by lifestyle influencer Ashmita Srivastava, who has a daughter called Aaira. 
 
With the announcement of Jenner's baby Aire's name in early 2023 we suspect that Aira will continue to climb the charts.

Anna has become the dominant form of the Ann family, offering a touch of the international to English speakers and a bit more style than the oversimplified Ann or Anne.

In literature, Anna is associated with Tolstoy's Anna Karenina. The name was given some fresh life when it was used for the adorable younger sister voiced by Kristen Bell in the animated film Frozen. Three current bearers are actresses Anna Kendrick, Anna Friel, and Anna Paquin.

Ava is one of the prime examples of a modern classic name, rising thought the course of a generation into the Top 10, where it has lingered for nearly 20 years.
 
In medieval times, Ava was a diminutive of Germanic names beginning in Av-, in particular Aveline, from which the name Evelyn would eventually arise. Some parents who love Ava's simplicity and style have looked on to other choices that might take her place: Eva, Avery, Ada, Aveline and so on. One of the most fascinating things about Ava is that it's a much more ancient name than its modern-feeling sleekness would suggest. St. Ava was the daughter of King Pepin and was cured of blindness and became a nun. 
 
While Ava Gardner represents the Golden Age of Hollywood image of the name, director Ava DuVernay updates it to new Hollywood, together showcasing the name's attractive mix of glamor and strength.
