Pyramus

Greek mythological name

Pyramus Origin and Meaning

The name Pyramus is a boy's name .

Though the name of his great tragic love Thisbe remains in modern use, that of her paramour Pyramus, a young Babylonian, has all but disappeared.

Chaucer includes the tale of their misbegotten love in his "Love Visions," while Shakespeare's version, as performed by two buffoons in "A Midsummer Night's Dream, is a classic comedic sketch.

With the return of classical names, perhaps Pyramus might resurface.
