Winwaloe Origin and Meaning
The name Winwaloe is a boy's name meaning "valor".
One of the more eccentric early British saint names, Winwaloe was born in fifth-century Brittany, founded a monastery, and is commemorated in several churches across Brittany and Cornwall. Later in the middle ages, he gained a reputation as a patron of fertility, thanks to the similarity between his name and the Latin word gignere, "to beget". Other forms of the name are Guénolé in French, and Gwenole in Breton.
