Kaylani
Kaylani Origin and Meaning
Kaylani is an English variation of the Hawaiian name Kailani. Both forms rank in the US Top 300, and while Kailani is more popular, Kaylani isn't far behind. It joined the US Top 1000 in 2016 and has been rising ever since, following on the heels of Leilani, Malia, and Kehlani.
The traditional, Hawaiian form, Kailani, means "sea of heaven" and this meaning transfers to the English variation too. The pronunciation, however, might be disputed. Kailani is said with a Kye sound at the beginning, whereas some pronounce Kaylani with a kay sound, in line with the likes of Mikayla and Kaylee - or with the Hawaiian name Keilani, meaning "glorious sky", another potential origin for the name.
While it is on the rise in the national statistics, Kaylani is notably absent from Hawaii's Top Baby Name List, whereas both Kailani and Keilani rank. This means that it's across the other US states that Kaylani is given to 1250 girls each year.
