Jayden
Jayden Origin and Meaning
This once obscure name was propelled to fame by Britney Spears, and by Will and Jada Pinkett Smith in the 2000's. It skyrocketed into the US Top 10 for boys, but it also saw significant use for girls.
Similar in sound to the likes of Jamie, Peyton, Paisley, Jade, and Jane - and, given the popularity of the -ayden names in general - it caught on, albeit briefly.
Rising to the Top 200 in 2010, Jayden has since fallen out of favor again, with only 100 or so girls being given it every year.
In terms of origin, Jayden is potentially a modern invention, inspired by Aiden, Jason, and Hayden. It could be be a spin on the Biblical Jadon, meaning "thankful", or maybe even just a nod to a Jade, Jude, Jayne or Jason if your life.
Like the idea of Jayden but don't want your baby to be lost in the sea of Jaydens, Jaedens, Jaidens and Jaidins? Enjoy the sounds but don't want something gone so recently out of style? You could try Jada, Janie, Arden, Cadence or Jazmin as inspiration.
